This course will explore the worlds of healthcare privacy and security with a focus on the intersection of technology and the care of humans by humans. ý will be exposed to the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and the Actýs implementing regulations (collectively ýHIPAAý). In addition, students will learn practical approaches to identifying and resolving issues (including unauthorized disclosures and breach notifications) and learn about methods for demonstrating compliance.
